What If I Told You That “If the Tomb is Empty, Anything is Possible?”

By Pastor Sam Brown, Crosspoint Church Freeport

That’s a bold statement. It almost sounds too hopeful for the kind of world most of us live in. I mean, look around—life has a way of convincing us that some things simply don’t change. Certain mistakes follow us. Certain relationships stay broken. Certain situations feel too far gone.

But the truth of Easter offers us a different perspective.

The first followers of Jesus certainly didn’t expect it. When Jesus was crucified, their hopes seemed to die with Him. Imagine being there in that moment. The people closest to him, who had seen the miracles, seen the life he lived, shared the meals. They had believed He was the one who would change everything, and suddenly, on Friday, it looked like everything had ended.

When some of them walked to the tomb that Sunday morning, they weren’t looking for a miracle. They were grieving.

But, what a surprise it must have been when they found the stone rolled away!

For those who claim to follow the way of Jesus, the resurrection of Jesus is more than a moment in history; it’s the foundation of our hope. It’s the literal crux of our faith. Have you ever asked why?

Because if Jesus truly walked out of that tomb, it means death itself is not the final authority! It means God can step into situations that seem completely finished and do something new.

And that’s where Easter starts to feel personal.

If the tomb is empty, then a struggling marriage is not beyond repair!

If the tomb is empty, you aren’t stuck in your past—you can still find a new future!

If the tomb is empty, though you might be walking through grief, hope is around the corner!

If the tomb is empty, the story of your life is not limited to the chapters that feel broken!

Many of us carry things that feel like sealed tombs, places in our lives where we’ve quietly assumed nothing will ever change. Easter gently challenges that assumption and shapes our perspective.

The empty tomb reminds us that God specializes in bringing life where we thought the story had ended. Praise God for that!

So, maybe Easter is an invitation to reconsider what we believe is possible. Because, if the tomb is empty, hope is real, forgiveness is real, new beginnings are real. Anything is possible!

I’d love to invite you to experience Easter at Crosspoint, Freeport, this year.
