There is something about August that makes us pause. Maybe it’s the first day of school. The excitement of Friday night football. New teachers, new routines, and calendars that suddenly fill up again after a slower summer.
For many families, August feels like a fresh start. And with every fresh start comes a question: What kind of season do I want this to be?
Most of us don’t just want fuller calendars. We want fuller lives. We want stronger marriages. We want our kids to grow into people of character. We want friendships that matter. We want peace instead of constant pressure. We want purpose that goes deeper than simply making it through another week.
The Bible tells us that God is in the business of making things new. Not just new schedules or new opportunities, but new hearts. Throughout Scripture, God often met people in seasons of transition. Abraham left everything familiar. Ruth stepped into an uncertain future. The disciples dropped their nets to follow Jesus. Again and again, God used a new season to invite people into a new relationship with Him.
Maybe He still does. Maybe that’s why you’re reading this. Perhaps this fall isn’t just about getting back into a routine. Perhaps it’s an invitation to reconnect with the God who created you and loves you more than you can imagine. At Crosspoint Church, that’s what we’re praying for—not only for our church family, but for every family in Freeport.
This fall is a new season for us as well. While we eagerly await the completion of our permanent campus here in Freeport, we’ll be gathering each Sunday at Freeport High School. We couldn’t be more excited. Not because we’re meeting in a school, but because it reminds us that the church has never been defined by its address. It’s always been about people encountering Jesus and finding hope together. Whether you’ve attended church your whole life, walked away years ago, or have never been to church at all, you are welcome. No pressure to have all the answers. Just a place to come as you are and see who Jesus is. Our hope is that you’ll find authentic friendships, practical biblical teaching, a place where your children are loved and invested in, and a community that’s committed to making a real difference in Freeport. Because we believe our community deserves more than another busy season. It deserves hope.
As you prepare backpacks, organize calendars, and look ahead to everything this fall will bring, don’t forget to make room for what matters most. Jesus once said, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” That’s still good news today!
