One way to build community pride is by cheering for the hometown football team. And that’s exactly what Freeport High School’s billboards aim to achieve. Sponsored by Green Air, the sister billboards feature Freeport High School’s senior football players, welcoming the community home to Bulldog Country and rallying support for Freeport High School athletics.
Freeport’s new head football coach and athletic director, Bobby Johns, is an advocate for community involvement and local business support. “By creating a strong football and athletic program, it serves as a huge foundation and the roots of a community,” said Coach Johns.
“It takes our principal, coaches, players—all committed to the community of Freeport. Whether you’re a fan or a local business, the community is better when you have a valuable asset. We want the community to know we have a great school with great leadership and great kids,” continued Johns.
A veteran football coach, Johns is proving that hard work, getting physical and team culture all play an important role in creating a winning football team. With some nail-biting wins and losses under their belt, the Bulldogs’ current standing of 3 wins and 4 losses indicates that there is more hard work ahead.
For the seniors, it’s about more than just winning; it’s personal. These final games represent the last time these students will play football together on the same team or at all. While the friendships may endure the test of time, these players know their days on the field are numbered. Therefore, there is no better time to get to know Freeport High School’s varsity football seniors who are laying the foundation for generations to come. Here we share the names and positions of the faces that grace the billboards welcoming you to Bulldog Country.
