Honoring Our Heroes: Veterans Day
Between the festivities, November also brings an important opportunity to pause and honor the brave men and women who have served our country. Wednesday, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day, a time to recognize the service, sacrifice and dedication of our nation’s military veterans.
Freeport has traditionally observed the occasion with a Veterans Day Memorial Ceremony at Casey Park, adjacent to Freeport City Hall. The park is home to the Freeport Veterans Memorial, a meaningful place of remembrance and reflection for residents and visitors alike.
The memorial includes special tributes such as the Freedom Flame, symbolizing enduring gratitude for those who have served, and The Grace Project, which recognizes the contributions of women in the armed forces.
Visit the Town Planters Society of Freeport Florida, Inc. Facebook page for additional information.
In observance of Veterans Day, Freeport City Hall and city administrative offices will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 11. Walton County schools will also be closed for the holiday.
Freeport Night Out Nov. 14: Shop Local, Give Back and Celebrate Community!
The celebration of community continues Saturday, Nov. 14, when the Freeport Merchants Association presents Freeport Night Out, a fun-filled afternoon and evening at The Windmills at Hammock Bay from 3 to 7 p.m.
Bring the whole family and get ready for live music, local vendors, food trucks, raffles and plenty of opportunities to connect with friends and neighbors while supporting the businesses that help make Freeport thrive.
This special gathering is about more than shopping and entertainment. It’s a celebration of the people, businesses and organizations that give Freeport its welcoming, small-town character.
Even better, proceeds from the event will benefit Whole Outdoors and Westonwood Ranch, two organizations making a positive difference in our community.
Local businesses, makers and vendors are also invited to participate, offering an opportunity to showcase their products and services while connecting with fellow residents.
So, bring your friends, bring the kids, discover a new favorite local business and enjoy an evening filled with community spirit. It’s a wonderful way to support local entrepreneurs while helping two worthy organizations continue their work.
